Donald A. Harwood

Partner

Donald A. Harwood is a partner at Itkowitz & Harwood.  Mr. Harwood is admitted to practice in New York, Massachusetts, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Northern Districts of New York and the District of Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals, First, Second, Fourth, and Seventh Circuits.

He received his B.A., magna cum laude, from St. Lawrence University, where he was Phi Betta Kappa, and his J.D. from Northeastern University.  Mr. Harwood has been an adjunct professor of Constitutional and Criminal Law at Northeastern University.  Mr. Harwood has also been a faculty member for continuing legal education programs at the New York State Bar Association, Real Property Section, Commercial Leasing Committee and Lorman Education Services.  Mr. Harwood and the I&H partners authored a chapter on lease remedy clauses for the New York State Bar Association Commercial Leasing Manual.

Mr. Harwood and Mr. Itkowitz produced an independent film, Frozen River, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.  The film went on to garner two Academy Award nominations, Courtney Hunt for Best Original Screenplay and Melissa Leo for Best Actress, a remarkable achievement for an independently produced and financed film.  Mr. Harwood is capable of doing all the legal work with respect to film production including, but not limited to, preparing prospectuses for investors and negotiating and obtaining intellectual rights associated with film production as well as selling film rights etc.

Mr. Harwood was born in 1957 in Malone, New York.
